SUMMARY:Turtle Trek at Los Cerritos Wetlands
DESCRIPTION:The Los Cerritos Wetlands Land Trust offers free nature walks in the Long Beach/Seal Beach wetlands. The walks are the first Saturday of each month from 8 to 10 a.m. The walks are led by naturalists and are appropriate for age 7 and above. Closed-toed shoes are required. Parking is available on the inland side of the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and 1st Street\, at the border of Long Beach and Seal Beach. \nAll walks focus on the history and future of the wetlands. Participants in the walks might see herons\, hawks\, hummingbirds and rabbits and will learn about native plants. The Raptor Ramble has information about how the Tongva Native Americans lived in and used the wetlands. The Heron Hike visits the Marketplace Marsh and ecologists discuss the reintroduction of tides and bringing water back into the land. Participants in the Turtle Trek hope for glimpses of the endangered Pacific Green Sea Turtles which have taken up residence in a portion of the San Gabriel River. \nThe Oct. 2 hike is the Turtle Trek. DESCRIPTION:Save Our Beach will be conducts a monthly beach clean-up on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon at the beach parking lot at the end of 1st Street in Seal Beach. Parking in the 1st Street Beach lot is free during the clean-up.  Check in at the Blue Canopy on the Grass to receive a parking pass (required). \nPre-registering here will speed up the check in process for you and your family.  Each adult participant must register separately.  Minor children may register on a parent/guardian’s registration. No need to print a ticket\, we will check your pre-registration at our blue canopy! \nClean-ups happen  ‘Rain or Shine’. \nWhen: SATURDAY\, Nov. 13; 9 a.m. – noon \nWhere: 1st St. Parking Lot (15 First Street) Seal Beach\, CA 90740 \nThis is a one-time only change in date due to a conflict with the 1st St. parking lot during our normal beach cleanup. DESCRIPTION:Ecologists will lead a nature walk of the Los Cerritos Wetlands on Saturday\, Dec 4\, from 8 to 10 a.m. Many raptors live and hunt in the wetlands. Participants might see red-tailed hawks\, cooper’s hawks and ospreys.  Kingfishers\, egrets\, owls and hummingbirds also reside in the wetlands. Stroll along a lovely walkway among California native plants. This walk is appropriate for ages 7 and up. Closed toes shoes are required. Park on the inland side of the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and 1st Street\, just at the border of Long Beach and Seal Beach.
