SUMMARY:Escape Marketing Mania – Back to Basics
DESCRIPTION:Local public relations consultant Leslie A.M. Smith\, owner of McCormick L.A.\, is hosting a free Zoom webinar on April 22 from noon until 1 p.m. \n“Escape Marketing Mania – Back to Basics” is a one-hour workshop she created to help small businesses and solopreneurs become clear about their marketing building blocks and who their customer is before they start promoting it. \n“I’ve worked with many business owners\, and even nonprofit founders\, who completely bypass this step\,” Smith said. “They run themselves ragged with Facebook and Twitter posts without clear messaging and without knowing who they need to reach.” \nOnce a business owner is clear about the basics including which social media platforms to use\, the necessary promotions will become more obvious\, she shared. \nSmith is the author of Laws of Promotion\, a concise 50-page marketing guidebook\, based on her experience helping small businesses and nonprofits with their promotional efforts since 1994. \nAttendees must register to receive the Zoom link and downloadable materials. \nVisit www.McCormickLA.com (scroll down) to enroll. For more information\, email Smith at Leslie@McCormickLA.com or call (562) 618-0071.

SUMMARY:SBPD to take back prescription drugs Saturday\, April 24
DESCRIPTION:On  Saturday\, April 24\,  2021 from 10  a.m. to 2 p.m. the  Seal Beach Police Department and the  Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will  give the public an  opportunity to prevent pill  abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired\, unused\, and unwanted prescription drugs. \nBring your pills for  disposal to the  front gate of Leisure World located at 13533 Seal Beach Boulevard.  The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps\, only pills or patches.  The service is free and anonymous\, no  questions asked. \nThis initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are  highly susceptible to diversion\, misuse\, and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the  U.S. are  alarmingly high\, as  are  the  number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.  Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are  obtained from family and friends\, including from the home medicine cabinet. In addition\, Americans are  now advised that flushing them down the  toilet or throwing them in the  trash—both pose potential safety and health hazards. \nFor  more information about the  disposal of prescription drugs or about the  Take BackDay event\, visit  https://takebackday.dea.gov/.
