VIP Soccer registration is scheduled for Saturday, June 14

AYSO Region 154’s VIP Soccer, now celebrating its 17th season serving special needs children and adults locally, continues registration on Saturday, June 14 from 1p.m. to 7 p.m. at Cypress School District Office located on the corner of Orange and Moody.

Registration is just $25 and available for children and adults with special needs from Anaheim, Buena Park, Cypress, Los Alamitos, La Palma, Rossmoor, Seal Beach, Westminster and neighboring communities.  Online registration is required first at www.eayso.org.

VIP volunteers will be on-hand to assist with registration if parents are unable to complete the online registration.

A limited number of financial scholarships are available for those seeking assistance on payment.

Families missing the Saturday registration may enroll their special needs child or adult right up until the season’s start in September, however, they will need to pay an additional $5 for late registration.

All-Stars Headed to AYSO National Games in July

Region 154 VIP also announced it is fielding a team of All-Stars to participate in the AYSO National Games VIP Fun Fest.  Players who participated in Region 154 VIP in 2013 are invited to join up.  The team will play Tuesday, July 1 through Saturday, July 5 at Stub Hub Stadium in Torrance with VIP teams from across the nation.

“We are very excited about sending a team of VIP players to the AYSO National Tournament in June,” said VIP Director Rick Tkach.  “The event will be a special week of fun and VIP teams from across the country are participating as part of AYSO’s ‘Everyone Plays’ philosophy.

“We’re proud to be representing Region 154 and appreciate their support in making our participation possible.”

Now among the nation’s largest programs for ‘special needs’ athletes, the AYSO Region 154 VIP Soccer serves nearly 150 players since expanding in 2010.  It is made possible through the support of UnitedHealthcare, the Bandai Foundation, CalOptima, Cold Stone Creamery and Creative Behavior Interventions.  Teams and schedules will be announced in late June.  Practice will begin in mid August. Games will begin in early September.

Teen & Adult Volunteers Welcome

VIP Soccer also invites local teenagers to volunteer as ‘buddies’ for next fall’s season.  Those interested may complete a volunteer application online at www.eayso.org.  No experience is necessary and all ‘buddy’ volunteers receive community service hours, a free VIP Buddy t-shirt and training to make their volunteering a success.  VIP is also looking to grow its coaching, co-coaching and team parent ranks.  Teens age 18 and over and adults are invited to join the fun and help grow the program in 2014.  For more information, visit www.Region154.org or contact Rick Tkach at 562-225-0331 or rtkachayso154@gmail.com.
