Griffin Girls Varsity Tennis team has won all three of its Sunset League meets. With wins against Newport Harbor, Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley, they are in first place in league standings.
The strong starts have allowed Varsity Coach, Kevin Garrett to sub in a variety of players. Senior, Monica Arrendondo, who has had a winning J.V. record throughout her Los Al tennis career won her first 2013 Varsity match at home against Fountain Valley on Thursday.
The team’s strong showing has also allowed J.V. Coach, Brian Collison to bring in a variety of players in matches against Huntington Beach and Fountain Valley including mixing in different doubles teams and even splitting some doubles teams to play singles.
The coaches are confident that the Varsity, J.V. and Frosh/Soph teams will continue to get stronger as they play up to three matches a week through the season.
