Sat, Dec 31 2011 09:57 PMThe above comment from On the Beat is a knee-jerk reaction that most people have to this question. Yes, the State should have been enforcing this legislation since it was actually passed. I live in an apt in Los Alamitos, and the continual raising of rents is going to force me out. Low income housing doesn't mean addt'l crime, drugs etc. A perfect model of how low income housing can be put into effect is in Carlsbad, Cal. They have some wonderful complexes that are lower than the "normal" rents - some for families, and some for adults. People should find out what the low income housing actually means before they pass judgment. I'm not a criminal, I've NEVER used drugs, am a single mature female, and I would qualify for low income housing, and could stay in this area without being FORCED OUT by rents that are out of control, and cater to the greed of apt owners.
