Mon, Mar 22 2010 08:32 AMKeep the tennis courts and pool. We don't need another asphalt parking lot. Once you get rid of the courts, they're gone forever.
Mom of a future Phelps Says:
Mon, Mar 15 2010 09:57 AMWe are a beach and outdoor lifestyle community. Save save save both the pool and the tennis courts! And yes, why not have swim as a PE option at Mc Gaugh - even if only for the 4th & 5th graders, who may be less of a risk in the water. And tennis for all grades!
Luster Hauth Says:
Sun, Mar 14 2010 09:22 AMTurning those tennis courts into parking spaces would be terrible. Let's keep our tennis courts and fix the leaky pool.
Wendi Rothman Says:
Sat, Mar 13 2010 03:21 PMAsssets like these are hard to come by. Once gone, they will be gone forever. Seal Beach children and adults should benefit from them.
I quesion whether the parking demand is by Seal Beach residents at all? Gym/pool/playing field uses should be analyzed first.
Audrey Hauth Says:
Sat, Mar 13 2010 12:10 PMBoth the three tennis courts and the pool are important to save; our community needs both equally. Once Seal Beach had tennis courts next to Zoeter School, but sadly those are gone for good. We know that once recreational facilities are gone, they're gone forever.
Mike Buhbe Says:
Fri, Mar 12 2010 10:21 PMRecreation is more important than parking. The key issue is whether we want to wipe out tennis courts so there will be more daytime parking for the school. While I sympathize with personnel at McGaugh and also the neighboring houses whose streets are occupied with parked cars, ample recreational space brings balance to our lives. Keep the tennis courts. Keep the pool operating until we figure out a new pool. Do not take out the tennis courts for cars. What is more important - parked cars or space for play?
Roberta Armstrong Says:
Fri, Mar 12 2010 06:48 PMWe need to make recreational space and facilities a priority for our community. We do not need additional parking lots.
Cooie Dampman Says:
Fri, Mar 12 2010 05:34 PMI am glad a revisions was made. I definitely feel both the McGaugh Pool (all 3 of my children were on the Swim Team)and the tennis courts are vital (our family of 5 all played tennis and continue to play to this day). I have been Seal Beach resident for 46 years and I recogonize the importanace of keeping both the tennis courts and the swimming pool for the sake of our children and community. Why has the question never been asked of the school board: Why not make swimming & tennis part of the Gym or P.E. program at the school? Afterall, we live in California right on the coast and so much more outdoor living is part of our way of life. It is and always will be good for our children and our community. Putting in a parking lot for non-residents does not make sense because it will not solve the parking problem.
Gloria Souders Says:
Fri, Mar 12 2010 02:40 PMSince we may not vote for saving both the tennis courts and the pool, I would like to change my vote to save both.

Marc Loopesko Says:
Tue, Mar 23 2010 01:29 PMOf course we need to keep the courts and pool, but we must have the pool leak problem fixed immediately. Whether it be 10,000 or more/less gallons of water lost per day, that it too much in our drought conditions. Let's get the fix taken care of now so we have the pool operating for the summer.
