Wed, Feb 03 2010 09:09 PMI don't live in Old Town, so I don't have a say, but if I did live there, I would wish if there was a proposal for dancing and music there that it would be discussed extensively first, naturally.
Perhaps once every couple of months this idea would fly, I don't know. Who can say if they want this stuff or not. Perhaps there should be a time limit for the events on the block. Perhaps there should be restrictions for street vendors who take away the biz from the businesses that are in place. if someone is proposing. These are things to ponder with a proposal like this, even if it's just a poll.
There is no clear cut answer on something like this. No one should say a clear cut yes or no--there are too many variables to consider.

Sat, Jan 30 2010 09:13 AMWe've been through all this before. Main Street backs up to residences. It is inappropriate to have loud anything on Main Street in the evening when people are trying to get to sleep before work the next day. Do you like your peace and quiet shattered routinely? I didn't think so either. Dancing means loud music. Go dancing where you won't disturb others.

Sat, Mar 13 2010 03:26 PMOf course not. Property values are already much lower for residents that back up to Main St. Traffic, parking and noise is not pleasant. Why worsen the situation?Remember, a recent poll showed that only ONE Main St business was in the top 25% tax payers to our city coffers...and it was not a bar. This kind of business only COSTS us all more money in city services while reducing our propery values.
