Long Beach considering changes to Seal Beach bus service

Long Beach Transit will hold a public meeting to discuss changes to bus service in Seal Beach at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, Marina Community Center, 151 Marina Dr. The agency is phasing out the 30-foot red diesel fueled shuttle buses used on LB Transit’s Passport routes. They will be replaced with 40-foot CNG buses.

However, to accommodate the new buses, Long Beach will have to change the bus routes that operate on Marina Drive between Alamitos Bay Landing and 5th Street in Seal Beach. Long Beach Transit staff will be available at the May 8 meeting to answer questions about the proposed changes.

LBT is proposing new bus stops to enable Seal Beach residents to enjoy improved and direct service to the shops and restaurants at Alamitos Bay Landing and Belmont Shore, as well as LBT’s AquaLink water taxi that connects to the Belmont Pier and Downtown Long Beach.

LB Transit proposes for the following locations for new bus stops:

  • Southwest corner of Marina Drive & 1st Street
  • Northeast corner of Marina Drive & 1st Street
  • Northeast corner of 5th Street & Marina Drive
  • Northwest corner of Marina Drive & 5th Street

If the LB Transit Board approves, these service changes would take effect Aug. 26.
