Opinon: Is yoga for everyone?

I am finding that people are intimidated by “Yoga.” That doesn’t have to be.

At Harmony HB in the Huntington Harbour Mall we offer a Gentle Yoga program that is designed for everyone and anyone despite age, gender or prior experience with yoga. The teachers are nourishing and encouraging in a tranquil non-competitive setting. There are countless benefits to practicing Gentle Yoga: alleviating chronic pain, increasing joint flexibility and core strength, improving posture, elevating mood, reducing stress and bringing a sense of overall well-being by calming the mind to name just a few.

Many yoga studios offer Gentle Yoga as an alternative to a more rigorous practice.

In Gentle Yoga, the movement is slow, each movement is linked with breath, and we enter into the postures gradually and slowly. This kind of method guides you into postures to protect and nurtures the joints, muscles, and connective tissue. With Gentle Yoga, you explore your pain-free range of motion and find your edge, so you can come safely and comfortably into the pose, depending on what’s right for your body on any given day.

Gentle Yoga is particularly good for balancing digestive difficulties because its slow, rhythmic movement is soothing and relaxing to the nervous system. Done regularly, it can also improve sleep difficulty and lower blood pressure.

Harmony HB invites you to try us free for a week.
