The Best of Seal Beach revealed

As we plunged forward for our Best Of Seal Beach 2016, we weren’t sure what to expect in our second year. Once again, the readers of The Sun didn’t disappoint.

The voting was much heavier this year, helped in part by the fact we ran four weeks of paper ballots in addition to Internet voting. And for the curious, the ballots were almost evenly divided between print and the Internet.

This Readers’ Poll was created for locals to tell us about their favorites. We included everything from “Best Place to Walk Your Dog” to “Best Accountant” and scores of categories in between. It is not a scientific poll; rather, a place to recommend businesses and places that Seal Beach residents think are best.

Our Best Of 2015 special section lived on months after the winners were selected, with many businesses using it as a reference point when visitors needed suggestions about where to go, where to eat, and what services are offered. It’s handy for out of town guests as well because it represents a snapshot of the quaint beach city we call home.

The Sun started its Best of Seal Beach 2015 in the city’s 100th year, merging history with the contemporary flavor of our town.

We all know Seal Beach is a unique place. Residents and city leaders have persisted in keeping the town’s “small town feel” and point to iconic Main Street as a prime example of an eclectic business district with very few chain establishments. When you shop on Main Street the business you patronize is likely owned by a friend or neighbor. The money you spend locally often stays in the community, supporting activities for our youth or myriad charities.

Enjoy reading this publication and seeing who your friends and neighbors think is “best.” We think you, our readers, are the best – and that won’t change.
