Security operation starts at Navy base

The Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station will take part in the largest Navy security exercise of the year from Feb. 1-12.

Exercise Solid Curtain-Citadel Shield 2016 will be simultaneously conducted on naval bases and installations throughout the continental United States.  At the naval weapons station, security personnel will practice a wide variety of skills related to command and control, emergency operations and base protection. There may be times when the exercise causes increased traffic around the base, delays in base access, and gate closures.  Area residents may also see increased military law enforcement activity associated with the exercise, and the station’s ”Giant Voice” mass notification loudspeaker system may be used.

The event is a regularly-scheduled exercise to enhance the training and readiness of Navy security personnel. For more information, call 562-626-7215.
