Friday, May 15

Forgery Report—9:27 a.m.—Main Street—Hermosa Beach Police took a courtesy report for forged checks that were cashed at the Bank of America Branch on Main Street, Seal Beach, on Jan. 22 and Jan. 23. Report taken.

Citizen Assist—10:24 a.m.—Bolsa Avenue—The caller said a large truck was taking up several parking spots. The caller did not know if was occupied. The caller asked police to contact and advise the driver not to take up more than one spot. Police unit 444 contacted the truck driver. Both the driver and the caller were advised. The truck was there for construction work and would be moved that afternoon.

Disturbance—11:23 a.m.—Pacific Coast Highway—The caller said a man was challenging citizens to fight. He left the liquor store on foot a few minutes earlier after the clerk refused to give him alcohol. At 11:24 a.m., the caller said the man threatened to assault the caller. The caller followed the man in the caller’s vehicle. Then the man was reportedly in traffic on the center divider, asking drivers for money. Police unit 141 contacted the man at Pacific Coast Highway and First Street. Clifford Eugene Anderson was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness. It turned out there was a no bail warrant for his arrest on suspicion of parole violation.

Theft—1:10 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller said a hotel guest received a credit card authorization that the caller believed was fraudulent. Officers arrested Hildebrando Hernandez, Edward Hernandez and Leticia Ramirez on suspicion of theft by credit fraud.

Hazard—4:25 p.m.—Main Street—The caller reported some type of traffic sign down or bent over. The caller thought it was a traffic hazard. At 4:37 p.m., police unit 444 reported that the cross walk sign had been propped back up.

Saturday, May 16

Attempted Burglary—10:07 a.m.—Main Street—The caller arrived at work to find that someone tried to tunnel into the business from the garage area, but they were stopped by the security gate.

Disturbance, Juveniles—1:26 a.m.—Bolsa Avenue—The caller reported kids skateboarding on a roof. The caller said there were approximately 15 juveniles present, approximately two on the roof. Police unit M7 contacted an unspecified number of juveniles at Balboa and Bolsa. They were advised against skateboarding on a roof and they apparently said they would comply.

Stray Rabbit—3:34 p.m.—Tenth Street—Police unit 107 requested Long Beach Animal Care Services respond, if possible to a stray domesticated rabbit. Neighbors were out trying to catch it. Referred.

Suspicious Circumstances—10:52 p.m.—Pacific Coast Highway—Police unit 207 apparently observed a man running from a business. However, the owner said no police services were needed inside the business. Police contacted a man by the trash bins behind the business. The man, whose name was blacked out in the log, was interviewed in the field.

Vandalism Report—11:16 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller said that someone smeared feces on the caller’s vehicle sometime after midnight, Monday, May 15. The vehicle had been washed, but no all of it had come off and the caller believed the paint might have been damaged. Report taken.

Assist Other Agency—11:48 p.m.—First Street—The Orange County Fire Authority was out with a woman in a parking structure who was described as drunk. The woman was transported to Los Alamitos Medical Center. Police unit 207 locked her vehicle at the location. Police notified the woman’s husband about her condition.

Sunday, May 17

Traffic Hazard—12:23 a.m.—Pacific Coast Highway—The caller said a woman as walking in the southbound lanes of traffic. Police arrested Dianne McAlister on suspicion of public drunkenness.

Suspicious Person—9:16 a.m.—Westminster and Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller said a man on a bike was taking pictures of the Navy base. Police were unable to located him.

Person Down—9:29 a.m.—Pacific Coast Highway—The caller said a man in his 60s fell off his bike in the southbound lanes. The caller was no longer in the area. The caller last saw the man face down in the bike lane. Police were unable to locate him.

Suspicious Vehicle—10:37 a.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard and 405 Freeway—Police unit 106 found an unoccupied postal truck. There was no mail in it. The officer was unable to find any postal employee in the area. Police called the postal inspector. A driver arrived. The postal truck was broken down and the driver would wait for a tow truck.

Municipal Code—12:33 p.m.—Tenth Street—The caller said contractors were using a jack hammer and the caller wanted them to stop. Police unit 107 advised the contractors to stop using the jack hammer and they said they would comply.

Citizen Assist—4:49 p.m.—Marvista Avenue—The caller had locked herself out of her house. Assisted.

Friday, May 18

Dead Cat—7:58 a.m.—Old Ranch Parkway and Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller reported finding a dead cat in between the No. 1 and No. 2 southbound lanes of Seal Beach Boulevard at Old Ranch Parkway. Referred to Long Beach Animal Care Services.

Found Property—8:07 a.m.—10th Street and Pacific Coast Highway—Police unit 107 found a wheelchair. The log provided no further details. Report taken.

Theft—9:01 a.m.—Avalon Drive—Someone used the caller’s credit card to buy something that was delivered to a location on First Street. Report taken.

Under the Influence—9:21 a.m.—15th Street—Two callers reported a woman to the rear of the location. The second caller said the woman had been smoking something and her eyes looked strange. The second caller said the woman appeared disoriented and advised she needed help. Police arrested Amber Nicole Harrison on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. She was released on citation and transported to Los Alamitos Medical Center for treatment for unspecified medical issues.

Petty Theft—1:11 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The crime apparently occurred at 3:55 p.m., Sunday, May 17. Loss: a baby carrier valued at $180. Report taken.

Tuesday, May 19

Theft—10:10 a.m.—Central Avenue—Someone used the caller’s credit card to make purchases. Loss: $4,399.

Suspicious Person—6:25 p.m.—Sixth Street—The caller said a man appeared to be breaking into a residence.

The caller said the man was walking away. The line disconnected.  A second caller said he was running up and down the street.

The caller said that on May 18 the man did push ups on the  front porch and yelled.

Police unit 241 contacted the man. Police determined his sister’s residence was on Sixth Street. No further police services were necessary.

Wednesday, May 20

Dead Dog—9:29 a.m.—Old Ranch Parkway and Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller reported a dead dog on the sidewalk. It looked like the dog had a bag over its head. Referred to Long Beach Animal Care Services.

Suspicious Occupied Vehicle—10:20 a.m.—Fourth Street—The caller, relaying second hand information, reported a man in a white work truck. The caller requested a check of the residence to see if the truck was still there and that the residence was OK. Police unit 443 determined that the individuals with the truck were doing grading measures on the street. Police left a message for the caller on his voice mail.

Suspicious Person—11:33 a.m.—Coastline Drive—A man told the caller to contact the police about an individual who was reportedly seen jumping over fences. The caller said the man was now following the suspect on foot. At 11:36 a.m., the caller reported seeing the suspect, who was described as a boy 16-17 years old, jumping the caller’s fence. Police unit M7 contacted the caller, but police were unable to locate the suspected fence jumper.

Disturbance—11:55 a.m.—First Street and Pacific Coast Highway—The caller said a man carrying a large stick or baseball bat was on the bike trail, swinging it at passersby. Police unit M7 contacted the man with the stick under the bridge on the bike trail. He refused to drop the stick. At 12:01 p.m., the stick was down but the man was not complying with the officer’s instructions. Police unit 107 joined them. The man was interviewed in the field.

Thursday, May 21

Suspicious Occupied Vehicle—2:39 a.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard and Golden Rain Road—The officer in police unit 241 found a man and a woman sleeping inside a vehicle. The officer reported having a hard time waking them up. They were breathing. At 2:54 a.m., the officer reported that they were tired. They were advised against sleeping in a car and said they would comply.

Wednesday, April 29

Keep the Peace—8:48 a.m.—Kelly Lane—The caller reported that a worker from the Golden State Water Company was at the location to change the water meter. The caller was argumentative because he had not asked for a new water meter. The caller had asked the serviceman to leave, but he had refused. Patrol assisted and counseled both parties. The meter was replaced.

Friday, May 1

Suspicious Person—7:48 a.m.—Los Alamitos—The caller reported that a suspicious-looking man in his 20s was seen lurking behind cars in Rossmoor and had then darted out in front of the caller’s car. The man had no shirt on, but had a sweatshirt tied around his neck and was wearing jeans. The man appeared agitated. Patrol interviewed the man near the Wendy’s restaurant.
