Sand berm is no more

The last bit of the berm that lined the sands of Seal Beach was wiped clean on Monday, March 23.

Phase two of an ongoing sand nourishment project began on Monday, March 16  The previous phase began back in September of 2014 and took approximately 40 days to complete.  This phase is anticipated to take 2-3 months to complete.

Typically, the City loses 7,000 to 10,000 cubic yards per year to the ocean.

Phase II will potentially add up to 50,000 more cubic yards of sand to the beach, and when added to Phase I (approximately 32,000 cubic yards of sand), the combined 82,000 cubic yards of sand is roughly equal to what was nourished back in 2009.
