Seal Beach native to perform Friday, June 10

Native Seal Beach resident Jennifer Keith will be performing at Don The Beachcomber Friday, June 10 with her Sextet that features members of the famed Royal Crown Revue. Admission is $10. The band starts around 8:30 p.m.

Keith grew up in Old Town Seal Beach, went through the Los Alamitos School District, and was accepted to the prestigious Orange County School of the Arts. In college she also continued to study the theory of music through harmony technique and piano classes. She began her professional singing career at the age of 18; the jazz and pop singers from the 1940s and ’50s including Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Keely Smith and Julie London heavily influenced Keith.

It was at age 19 when she met Royal Crown Revue tenor saxophonist Mando Dorame who guided her musical direction and later formed her first jazz quintet.

She will be performing Friday, June 10, at Don The Beachcomber in Huntington Beach and Friday, July 8, at The Sky Room in Long Beach. For more informaiton, visit www.JenniferKeith.com.
