Long Beach Police Department officers arrested a Seal Beach resident for felony drunk driving and hit and run Sunday, July 11, according to a spokesperson for the LBPD.
Nancy Pratt, of the LBPD Media Relations Detail, confirmed the arrest in a telephone interview Monday, July 12.
According to Pratt, two 17-year-old girls were crossing Second Street, with the light, when a car traveling Pacific Coast Highway ran a red light and struck them.
Pratt said both girls were in the hospital in stable condition.
Just moments after the collission, friends of the girls flagged down an off-duty Long Beach officer, who followed the vehicle to Loynes and PCH. There, the officer detained Seal Beach resident Timory McDaniel, 37, until on-duty officers arrived to arrest her.
McDaniel was charged with felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence.
Pratt said McDaniel had been released on bail.
