Police make arrest in Seal Beach tire iron assault

Seal Beach Police detectives on Thursday, July 16, arrested a 17 year-old male from Cypress on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon that took place in Seal Beach recently.

The arrest occurred at 8:55 a.m. at Holder Avenue and San Francisco Way, in Cypress. This arrest comes 18 days after a 26-year-old man was attacked with a tire iron at Seal Beach gas station.

The attacker used a tire iron to strike the 26 year-old victim in the head, as he was filling his gas tank at the Mobil Gas Station, 12240 Seal Beach Blvd. Police officials said the arrest was a direct result of an anonymous tip/person who observed the video from the act on news reports.

“The West County Criminal Investigation Task Force pursued this subject with relentless follow up,” said Chief Joe Stilinovich. “Thank you to the media for their assistance and a special thank you the citizens who helped bring this suspect to justice. It is by working together that we can keep our communities safe.”

The West County Criminal Investigation Task Force is made up of Seal Beach, Los Alamitos and Cypress police investigators.

The booking photo and identification of the suspect in this case are being withheld because the suspect is a minor.
