Monday, July 21

Suspicious Circumstances—1:15 a.m.—Elder Avenue—The caller reported a possible attempt to burglarize his vehicle. He was awakened by the vehicle alarm, then saw an SUV leave the area. The caller said the only way the alarm would be activated was if someone tried to open the door. There was no damage to the vehicle or the door. The caller did not want contact with a police officer. No report desired.

Petty Theft—9:37 a.m.—Fifth Street—Incident. Loss: a walledt containing a driver’s license and credit cards. Report taken.

Vandalism—9:54 a.m.—Fir and Wisteria—The officer in police unit 141 observed vandalism to a street sign.

Fraud—4:23 p.m.—Ocean Avenue—Someone took $586 from a citizen’s checking account. Report taken.

Malicious MIschief—6:06 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller said an individual on a motorcylce pulled up to the caller’s vehicle and knocked off the caller’s passenger side mirror. The suspect wore a helmet. Report taken.

Illegal Peddler—7:20 p.m.—Daisy Street—A man said he was selling coupons but didn’t have any paper work or have any contact information to confirm.

Disturbance—10:34 p.m.—Ocean Avenue—The caller said at least eight individuals were drunk and being loud between buildings on Ocean Avenue. Police unit 207 contacted the partiers and warned them about the noise complaint.

Tuesday, July 22

Suspicious Occupied Vehicle—5:05 a.m.—Catalina Avenue—The caller said a white van occupied by two men had been driving slowly through the neighborhood. The caller said they had been in the area for the past 15 minutes. Police unit 207 determined the van was delivering newspapers.

Suspicious—11:44 a.m.—Catalina Avenue—Two individuals said they were from Southern California Edison. The caller contacted Edison. A representative of the power company said they had not sent anyone. The suspects left on foot in an unknown direction of travel.

Found Property—12:58 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller found a gun in a room at the location. The log did not say if this was a residence or business. The registered owner of the firearm was apparently contacted. The owner apparently said they would pick up the gun in about one month.

Theft—1:32 p.m.—Sunflower Street—Someone apparently used the caller’s access card to take $1,000 from the caller’s checking account. Report taken.

IN LEISURE WORLD

Tuesday, July 22

Burglary Report—8:15 a.m.—Nassau Drive, Mutual 9—Someone broke into a storage unit, some time between Sunday and Monday. Loss: miscellaneous collectibles. Point of entry: unknown. Report taken.

Petty Theft Report—10:31 a.m.—St. Andrews Drive, Mutual Unknown—Someone stole caller’s sterling silver flatware, valued at $800. The loss apparently occured in December 2013. Log entry.

Monday, July 21

Suspicious Person or Circumstances—2:17 a.m.—Orangewood Avenue— The caller said someone pounded on her door and ran off.

Suspicious Person in Vehicle—8:28 a.m.—Martha Ann Drive—The caller said that a white van occupied by a man with its windows covered had been parked across the street for 15 minutes.

Suspicious Person or Circumstances—11:56 a.m.—Martha Ann Drive—The caller requested a patrol check for a suspicious man on a cell phone who the caller thought might be casing the area.

Suspicious Person or Circumstances—10:47 p.m.—Ruth Elaine Drive—The caller heard a loud crash near her house, possibly in the backyard.

Tuesday, July 22

Welfare Check—4:39 p.m.—Kempton Drive—The caller requested a welfare check after two children, ages 4 and 6, told the school that there was no running water or food in the house. The caller said their mother was on welfare. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department blotter, the caller said there was an open welfare fraud case against the mother.

Citizen Assist—12:04 p.m.—Martha Ann Drive—The caller said a man tried to open her front door earlier that morning.

Suspicious Person or Circumstances—9:36 a.m.—St. Albans Drive—The caller said a man carrying a large box of fruit was going door to door, pounding on doors and screaming delivery.

Burglary Report—8:30 a.m.—Montecito Road—This was a vehicle burglary.

Suspicious Person in Vehicle—8:01 a.m.—Druid Lane—The caller reported an unmarked van occupied by two men parked near the caller’s home. The caller was concerned because of a recent burglary in the area.

Wednesday, July 23

Suspicious Person in Vehicle—3:21 p.m.—Kempton Drive and Montecito Road—The caller requested a patrol check for a large truck that was circling the area earlier.

Disturbance—12:55 p.m.—St. Albans Drive—The caller said a woman visiting her son didn’t want the caller there. The caller said her son was fighting verbally with the caller. The caller said she was in the process of moving out.

Thursday, July 24

Burglary in Progress—12:50 p.m.—Foster Road—The caller said a man broke into the caller’s house.

Vandalism Report—9:55 p.m.—Hedwig Road and Donnis Road—A deputy searched the park for individuals that were throwing eggs at passing cars.

Suspicious Person or Circumstances—10:32 p.m.—Martha Ann Drive and Walker Lee Drive—The caller said a man and a woman were walking in the neighborhood and might be casing.

Friday, July 25

Suspicious Person in Vehicle—11:20 a.m.—Montecito Road and Bradbury Road—A vehicle occupied by two men was running stop signs. The occupants were looking around. The caller, concerned about recent burglaries in the area, was concerned that they might be casing.

Saturday, July 26

Firework Violation—7:40 p.m.—Bostonian Drive.
