Monday, September 14

Petty Theft Report—7:53 a.m.—17th Street—Loss: a Huffy beach cruiser last seen at 8 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 13. No report desired at this time. Log entry. At 1:32 p.m., the caller had the serial number for the bike and was ready to file a report. Report taken.

Burglary Report—11:04 a.m.—Regatta Way—The caller’s garage was apparently burglarized between 10:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 13, and 10:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 14. Report taken.

Municipal Code Complaint—11:52 a.m.—Fifth Street—The caller reported a woman digging through trash cans in the alley, turning them upside down. She was gone by the time a police unit arrived.

Trespass Complaint—1:08 p.m.—Main Street—the caller said someone was sleeping on the balcony, possibly a transient. The caller also said the man might possibly be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Police unit M7 interviewed him in the field. He was warned against trespassing.

Welfare Check—3:10 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller said an elderly woman was having difficulty driving. She had almost runover some pedestrians. The pedestrians got her to park her car in a stall. Police unit M7 contacted the woman and determined she required medical aid. She was transported to another location that was blacked out in the log.

Tuesday, September 15

Water Problem—1:11 a.m.—College Park and Stanford—The caller said water was coming up from the ground near the stop sign, possibly from a water main. The caller was concerned due to the drought. Police unit 206 determined that sprinklers were on at a location on Stanford. No one answered the door and the officer was unable to turn off the sprinklers. Note left.

Possible DUI—2:02 p.m.—Pacific Coast Highway—The caller said the driver appeared to be an older gentleman. The caller apparently followed the suspicious car. Police unit 106 contacted the driver of the suspicious car. Police determined was no evidence the motorist was driving under the influence. However, driver was cited for having an open container. The driver’s name did not appear in the log.

Disturbance—3:06 p.m.—Avalon Drive—The caller said a man attacked the caller’s dog with a garden rake. The dog was unharmed as the caller prevented the attack. Police contacted all the parties to the dispute and apparently counseled everyone.

Graffiti/Vandalism—7:07 p.m.—College Park Drive—The caller reported black graffiti with pictures and writing on the Caltrans wall at the park. Report taken.

Vehicle Burglary—9:20 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—Loss: a purse and bag. The caller was certain she had locked her car door. (In California, breaking into a locked car and stealing property is felony vehicle burglary. Taking property from an unlocked car may be a felony or a misdemeanor depending on the value of the property.) Report taken.

Wednesday, September 16

Municipal Code Complaint—7:34 a.m.—Ocean Avenue—The caller reported dogs off leash. Log entry.

Vehicle Burglary—7:53 a.m.—Hazelnut Avenue—The crime apparently occurred between 6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15, and 2 am., Wednesday, Sept. 16. Point of entry: unknown. Loss: numerous unspecified items. Report taken.

Traffic—9:07 a.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard and Landing—The caller said large truck associated with construction in the area was obstructing the view of on-coming traffic when a driver had to make a left turn. The caller asked that the truck be moved to the other side of Seal Beach Boulevard. The truck was moved.

Counseling—8:56 p.m.—Crestview Avenue—The caller said someone was flying a drone around the caller’s house. The caller was concerned due to recent burglaries in the area. He was also concerned about his property and his privacy. Counseled.

Thursday, September 17

Suspicious Person—9:47 a.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller said a man was wandering around behind the location. Police were unable to locate him.

Disturbance—4:11 p.m.—10th Street—The caller complained about a group of children, aged 8 to 9 years old skateboarding in the bank parking lot. Counseled.

Friday, September 18

Suspicious Circumstances—12:49 a.m.—Ocean Avenue—The caller said someone was trying to get into the residence. The suspect was described as a woman. At 12:59 a.m., police unit 207 contacted a woman on Ocean Avenue who apparently fit the description the caller gave 911. Police arrested Michelle Klein on suspicion of public intoxication and resisting arrest.

Wednesday, September 16

Water Problem—7:38 a.m.—Golden Rain Road and St. Andrews Drive—The caller, reporting second-hand information, said there was water leaking into the street. At 7:58 a.m., the log reported that a sprinkler problem was the cause of the leak and someone would be en route to fix it in the next 20 minutes. Assisted.

Friday, September 4

Robbery—10:05 a.m.—Katella Avenue—The caller said two men were robbing the bank, and a second caller reported the same. The suspects drove away in a black car, but no car was seen. The first suspect was described as being in his early 30s and was wearing a blue long sleeve button up shirt and dark jeans. The second suspect was in his early 20s or 30s, and wore a plaid shirt. The suspects were last seen on foot heading out the door, and their vehicle was last seen heading toward Katella Avenue. They put money in a white bag or envelope. The caller said an employee was pepper sprayed, and the Orange County Fire Authority was on scene. Report taken.

Illegal Peddler —12:25 p.m.—Los Alamitos Boulevard—The caller said a man and woman were approaching customers for money. They said their vehicle was towed to a Rossmoor tow yard and that they were contacting family to generate money to get it out. The caller said the man smelled like alcohol.

Indecent Exposure—8:02 p.m. —Farquhar Avenue—The caller said a man wearing a black shirt and jeans was exposing himself to children. The subject was last seen walking into Boondocks bar. She just saw him with his pants down and did not actually see him expose himself. Patrol conducted an area search but was unable to locate the suspect. No report desired.

Sunday, September 6

Transient—2:06 p.m.—Ball Road—The caller reported a man with a beard wearing a white shirt and jeans yelling curse words loudly while standing in front of the bank. Patrol was unable to locate him.

Tuesday, September 8

Suspicious Circumstances—4:55 p.m.—Los Alamitos Boulevard— The caller reported a woman being chased by a man on foot, last seen in the neighborhood. The man was described as being in his 50s, wearing a white shirt, and black shoes and carrying a trash bag.

The woman was described as being in her 30s, with dark hair pulled back and wearing white button down shirt and black pants.

A second caller reported the woman screaming for help while getting into a blue/gray Ford Explorer. No weapons are seen.

Patrol contacted an apparent witness in front of the Southern California Edison Power Plant. An employee identified the woman and said the man snatched her purse then threw it on the ground. Medics were declined. The woman does not want prosecution or a report. The suspect was sent on his way.

Saturday, September 5

Suspicious Person—8:35 p.m.—Coleridge Drive—The caller reported seeing an individual behind the caller’s home.

The individual was seen shining a light into the backyard and then walked off towards Foster Road.Sunday, September 6

Disturbance—10:02 a.m.—Walker Lee Drive—An argument between a former couple took place during a child custody exchange.

Sunday, September 6

Suspicious Person—6:55 p.m.—Tigertail Dive—A caller reported that a vacant house near his residence has two large holes on the roof. The caller said they weren’t sure if anyone was inside and doesn’t believe a roofer did that on purpose.

Monday, September 7

Citizen Assist—12:29 p.m.—Bradbury Road—The caller said that his 14-year-old daughter befriended a 21-year-old man on Facebook and the man sent her a message with sexual content.

Monday, September 7

Disturbance—6:34 p.m.—3000 Mainway Dr.—The caller reported that her 44-year-old daughter is on the caller’s porch refusing to leave, and demanding to see her son.

The caller has legal custody of the 11-year-old son.
