The Seal Beach Wildlife Refuge is located on the Naval Weapons Station. A free public walking tour of the refuge is normally held on the last Saturday of each month (except December). Interested parties meet outside the base main gate at 8:30 a.m. Reservations are required at least 48 hours in advance, and no cameras are permitted. Participants must bring a picture ID, and are encouraged to bring walking shoes, sunscreen and binoculars. The tour lasts for approximately two hours and covers a walking distance of one mile round trip. The tour is given by the Friends of The Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge, in cooperation with the Department of the Navy and the Fish and Wildlife Service.
