The Seal Beach Pier reopened Tuesday, June 14, at about 11:30 a.m. District One Councilwoman Ellery Deaton said the pier would be open as often as possible whenever it was possible.
Within 15 minutes of the pier’s reopening, a crowd was walking the deck for the first time since a May 20 fire forced the closure of the entire pier. The end of the pier is still closed. Demolition of the two buildings at the end of the pier that were destroyed by the fire is expected in about two weeks.
The pier is expected to be open at least until demolition work begins and when no work is being done after that.
