Seal Beach gears up for 27th Annual Classic Car Show

With its historical pier overlooking the waves of the majestic Pacific Ocean as they crash onto warm sandy beaches, picturesque Seal Beach is the perfect setting for the area’s most beloved Classic Car Show.

Year after year, families pile into their cars, classic or not, and head to the Seal Beach Classic Car Show for a day of fun, food, music and gorgeous vehicles that even the youngest family member can appreciate.

The 27th Annual Seal Beach Classic Car show, taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, will be no exception.  This year’s show will showcase 600-plus vintage cars, hot rods, custom cars, antiques, and celebrity appearances. The event is free, with ample free parking at the Naval Weapons Station in Seal Beach, with pedestrian and shuttle access to the show.

Festivities include live music throughout the day from a variety of bands playing on three stages, featuring: Boyz and the Beez (swingabilly), The Wilsons (rock and roll) and Super Lark (classic rock) in the morning and MP Triple Play (‘70s cover tunes), The Kelley Fitzgerald Band (blues and folk) and The Curl Riders (classic surf rock) in the afternoon. Mom, dad and the kids will enjoy perusing countless vendor and nostalgic displays, including a pair of historical Helms Bakery wagons and a special Police vehicle display.

Seal Beach Cub Scout Pack 116 will again host a Pinewood Derby at the Pier from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All preteen girls and boys are invited to the derby race. Official kits are at Knock Knock Toy Store on Main Street. Trophies will be awarded for the winners, with a $100 savings bond if the Derby winner can beat the Chamber President’s car.

The youngsters will enjoy face painting and playing in the kids Fun Zone at the Beach tot lot, while Dad and the rest of the family check out the “Funny Cars Cacklefest” and mingle with famous drag racing stars in nearby Nitro Alley. Young and old can enjoy a pancake breakfast or hotdog lunch, provided by the Seal Beach Lion’s Club, while feasting their eyes on Hall of Famer Kent Fuller’s Bonneville Streamliner, famed car builder Gary Wales with his 1919 La Bestioni, a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible and a 2015 Cadillac ELR in the adjacent lawn. This year, the show will be nationally broadcast on two networks – Velocity Network “Lokar Classic Car Series,” and “Dream Rides,” on MAT Network. Master’s Entertainment is producing the two televised segments. “We believe it’s a perfect fit for our event, which showcases a beautiful beachfront location and some of the most distinguished and unique vintage automobiles in Southern California,” said Vince Bodiford, chair of the event.

The car show is an official event of the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce and could not be produced without the support of generous sponsors, including Original Parts Group, City of Seal Beach, Sun Newspapers, Russo & Steele Collector Car Auctions, Back in the Day Classics, Crevier Classic Cars, Glory Days Beachside Grill, and Anytime Fitness.
