Graffiti stenciled on Main Street

One or more graffiti vandals apparently using stencils left their mark on Main Street sidewalks early this week.

Public Works staff sandblasted the graffiti Monday and Tuesday mornings.

Seal Beach Police Department Cpl. Michael Henderson said there were at least 10 instances of sidewalk vandalism, the majority of which occurred on Main Street. Cpl. Henderson said there was no evidence of a gang connection to the vandalism. He said if you went online, it appeared to be some “sort of street art.”

“The investigation is on-going,” Henderson said.

One stencil depicted a white milk carton above the words “got love?”

This was signed “The Evandalizer.”

Someone using that name appears to have social media accounts.

The other stencil shows a man wearing a cowboy hat, a black bandana that covers his face, and a long beard above the words “Heads Will Roll.” The music group Yeah, Yeah, Yeah has a song called “Heads Will Roll,” but the logo for the song does not resemble the graffiti that was stenciled on Main Street sidewalks.

Much of the graffiti was gone by Monday afternoon, April 20. Public Works Director Sean Crumby said that his department has authority to remove graffiti from public property. As for the Main Street graffiti, Crumby said Public Works staff made the decision to sandblast the graffiti rather than paint it over.

He said sandblasting is best done when there are no crowds. The graffiti is gone now.
